Ursus 45™

I have not had a chance to put it through the ringer just yet, but what little I have done with it, I have been impressed. I own 3 WR Knives and all three have been top tier quality right out of the box. I honestly think this is as good as it gets for production blades. The Ursus 45 just feels good in the hand and the scales are very comfortable. You can throw a ton of sparks with the ferro rod. I would love to have a leather sheath for it, but the supplied sheath is very usable and also looks great. I have beat this thing through a "Lighter Knot" and some white oak and it will still cut newspaper like it did right out of the box. I teach Search and Rescue and Wilderness classes and I think this thing will be on my hip for the foreseeable future. I still love my 1095 blades and I don't baby them. I am excited to see how the magnacut blade will hold up to the use.

Absolutely beautiful knife from a family-owned knife company in the Great State of Michigan. I love the burlap handle and the blade is very imposing. The matching fire stick is a very nice touch. I will definitely order more knives from White River Knives.

I love the way it feels in my hand , the balance is perfect, the magma cut steel is the best steel I have found next to hand forged Damascus, by a master smith , as for toughness I only had it a few days but use it every day , as a gasket scraper, to a box cutter , rope cutter, rubber hose cutter and to cutting up my lunch for the day

You can feel how well built this knife and sheath are as soon as you pick it up. Absolutely superb camp knife.

The best of the best. My favorite knife. Fits my hand like a glove and the quality is outstanding. Highly recommend.

One reviewer referred to this as "the platonic form of a fixed blade". It has a kind of simple perfection. I got this one after already having the Cub. The only issue I had with that one is the handle is a little small for my large glove sized hands. This one fits in hand perfectly. The weighting feels right. WR factory edges are always appropriately sharp. I really like the way they do their slightly polished stonewash finish on the blades. And of course it cuts well. In comparison with their other knives, this is about 13 oz. with the sheath. The Cub is about half that and the Model 1 even less. So if you want something ultra compact for a hike, maybe check out one of those as an alternative. I own all three and there's a reason I keep coming back to this company. Their fixed blade offerings are top notch.

I own more than a couple of knives from different manufacturers and have been pleased with most of them but the surprise upon opening my URSUS 45 was a huge surprise. Everything from the packaging to how beautiful the knife was. Quality just absolutely oozes from this knife. At its price it’s an absolute bargain.

My sons and I randomly stopped by WRKT in Fremont hoping they had a storefront and we were pleasantly surprised that they have just opened a new storefront at their manufacturing plant. We met Matt and after going through all the knives we selected an URSUS 45, and it is AMAZING!!! Afterwards Matt gave us a tour of their knife making shop and it was equally impressive!!!!
