The White River Ursus Cub is the perfect balance of size and performance. Like the full size Ursus 45 but lighter, more compact, and easier to wield. Still comfortable for extended use but small enough to every day carry. Great for food prep, carving, and light firewood processing. Comes standard in CPM MAGNACUT steel. Includes a kydex sheath and ferro rod.

    As good as it gets

Posted by Dexter DeShantz-Cook on Apr 13th 2024

I bought this on a whim when it first came out and it has surpassed my expectations in every way! I wanted a bigger and more capable knife, but still wanted it to fit in a pocket. This thing really delivers. Fit and finish is excellent, the handle is very comfortable, and MagnaCut steel lives up to the hype in my opinion. The kydex sheath it came with is well done, despite not really being able to fit an ulticlip. If money weren’t an issue I would buy every knife in the line up! Cheers.

    Amazing Almost Covers This

Posted by Tom on Apr 4th 2024

This blade is an excellent design for general duties and fine tasks. I have XXL hands and while my little finger hangs off of the grip most of the time, I still realize excellent control and comfort. I have a hard time putting it down, I enjoy its handling characteristics that much. This is an extremely well-designed knife that will fit a wide range of users. The design lends itself well to concealed carry. It is easy to grab quickly while having absolute control. The only thing I am doing to the stocks is roughing them up with coarse sandpaper to enhance my grip. They got the Rockwell Hardness right on this blade. Magnacut really shines when hardened to 62HRC. The lifetime warranty is a plus. This knife should be in everyone's collection.

    Ursus Cub

This is a fabulous knife. I am in Canada and it was not stocked at any retailers yet so I ordered it directly from the White River and had it shipped to a US address. I call this a Big Little Knife. A good solid knife that feels good in hand yet it’s a small knife. I’m 6ft 4inches and about 240 lbs with fairly large hands and it is a fit for me. Have not used it enough to put any wear on the edge but I may never with the Magnacut and its reputation. Many thanks for building this knife. Fits nicely in my front pocket. It’s been there every day since I bought it.

    Fantastic Value

Probably the best value out there. It is a great knife. Perfectly capable for bush crafting tasks yet small enough to carry everyday. The fit and finish is great. Magnacut steel offers great edge retention while being stainless. Proud to own this American made knife.

    Amazing EDC fixed blade!

Posted by Larry E. on Mar 21st 2024

I haven't seen a knife this perfect for EDC since the Guardian 3. I honestly don't know as I would change a single thing about the blade itself; it's got such a wonderful blade shape that is tall with a thick spine, but still gets well thin behind the edge. The handle is absolutely perfect for my hands, and their linen micarta is among the best finished scales I've ever seen. Feels like one of the most versatile fixed blades of this size I've come across. The only thing I could complain about with this knife is the kydex sheath it comes with - it's actually quite well made, but this knife really is begging for a pocket carry configuration, and it doesn't feel like this sheath had much consideration put into that carry method. Trying to add an Ulti Clip you need to put it on the side with the thumb ramp (as the opposing side has a retention screw that would make the sheath far too tight if you bolted a clip here), which then blocks the thumb ramp. Mounting the clip lower so it is out of the thumb ramp's way means too much handle sticks out of the pocket. I'd love to see White River at least offer an optional sheath that allows for a more optimal pocket carry configuration. That said, Armatus Carry and other sheath makers will fill in this gap soon enough. What's important is the blade itself, and I have no hesitation at all giving this knife 5 stars. Looking forward to many years of use out of it!

    Ursus Cub

I've been thinking about the 45 I was instantly interested when I saw the Cub release. I'm a sucker for fixed blades in this size and couldn't resist it. This little knife is a real peach. Typically outstanding White River fit & finish and superb ergos. The Magnacut blade came razor sharp but I fine tuned it on a ceramic stone and strop. The only thing I tweaked was the sheath as I prefer a leather drop loop. If you're on the fence don't hesitate. This is another stellar White River knife and they did a great job with the Magnacut.

    Just Amazing

From the blade profile, to the feel of handle the Ursus cub is a great edc. I use this at work and thinking getting another one for outside of work.

    This knife is awesome

Posted by Vinnie on Mar 5th 2024

I had trouble deciding between the Ursus 45 and the Ursus Cub… I was a little worried that the Cub would feel too small, but it's exactly big enough to feel like a full-sized knife. I don't often need a large knife in the woods, but I didn't want something that's too small to use safely for daily work - this is the perfect middle ground. Fit and finish is excellent, and I like how the spine is sharpened but not near the handle. I got the linen micarta scales, and they feel amazing. The sheath is really good - everyone raves about White River's kydex, and I see why. It has an adjustable retention bolt, includes a ferro rod, and the belt clip can be rotated any way you want. I'm a lefty, and there are some cheaper knives that I passed over because they had right-handed leather sheaths that I'd have to replace. A good, ambidextrous sheath really adds to the overall value for me.

    Ursas Cub

This is one awesome EDC knife. The kydex sheath is nice and tight but does break in (loosen) up after some use but still retains knife perfectly. I saw some guy complaining about how tight the sheath is on you tube. He must have weak hands/fingers. To me, it is just right. The size and weight of this fantastic blade is perfect for EDC in my opinion. Thanks for producing this version White River!

    Beautiful Knife

This knife is a work of art. Perfect fit in hand, with a mix of balance and weight. Finish is gorgeous in person and the Micarta is smooth but has the perfect amount of grip. My main carry for EDC.

    Perfect little woods knife

Posted by Ant on Feb 16th 2024

This knife is about my ideal size and shape for a small-medium belt knife, so when I saw they were offering it in magnacut at 63rc (perfect), I had to jump on it right away. What a fair price for magnacut with an amazing sheath! The knife is so comfortable in hand, fit and finish is excellent, handle scales line up perfectly flush with the tang, and the brown burlap micarta is just gorgeous. Hair popping sharp out of the (nice) box and the spine is sharp where you need it but comfortably ground near where your thumb goes and at the tip for when doing some fine carving. I love this knife so much I’ll probably end up ordering a second one for backup or passing down once knife funds replenish. White river knocked this new model and magnacut out of the park. 10/10 highly recommend this knife.

    Ursus Cub

Posted by Geoff S. on Feb 13th 2024

Hi, I received the knife today in the mail. This is the 4th White River knife I have purchased. The first 3 were Ursus 45, one for me, one for my daughter, and one for my son. I love the Ursus 45 for all kinds of uses from food prep to skinning game, to bushcraft. Great knife! Now I have the EDC version that can be with me at all times, even in town and as a bonus, it is magnacut steel which is the best of both worlds-hard and tough plus stainless. I have many Bark River knives, and some LT Wright knives. Yours are equal or better than the competition. Keep up the good work!
